About Stepping Stone House – Nepal Expedition

After completing a trek to Everest Base Camp in 2008, Ray and Di always said that they would like to return and summit a ‘real mountain’.

This dream will be realised when we embark on a 24 day expedition that will include the summiting of both Mera Peak (6476m) and Island Peak (6189m) as well as crossing the Amphu Laptsa Pass (5800m). Although individually Mera and Island Peaks are both popular trekking peaks in Nepal, very few people attempt both on the same trek.

We created this page because we are inspired by the work of Stepping Stone House. Our Nepal expedition will be tough and gruelling, but not as tough as trying to start your young adult life, living on the streets.

Please donate to our Stepping Stone House Nepal Challenge campaign so Stepping Stone house can continue to provide reliable housing and much needed development support for homeless youth.

The more people who know about the good work of Stepping Stone House, the greater their impact, so please share this page with your friends and family.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Your friends, Ray and Di

About Stepping Stone House

Established in 1989, Stepping Stone House is a Sydney-based not-for-profit organisation providing medium to long-term accommodation, development and care for young people aged 12 - 24. Residents join our family from all over New South Wales, have typically been at risk of homelessness, and are unable to live with their own families.

Our mission is to make a transformational difference to the lives of young people, starting with a safe and nurturing home environment. Our 'Stepping Stones to Independence' model supports youth through adolescence all the way to adulthood. As the only Out-of-Home-Care organisation who provides long-term care, we're a dedicated family - there for life.

For more than 20 years, Stepping Stone House has helped over 400 young people to become self-sufficient, independent and educated young adults. Through a combination of outdoor activities, education, community engagement, mentoring and rehabilitation, we aim to equip young people with the self-care and life skills they need to build a brighter future.
