Yes! We really are going to run 42.2km in the New York Marathon AGAIN for Starlight Children’s Foundation and we need your support!!
As you are aware both of us sit in several standard deviations to the right of the mean when it comes to the ideal Body Mass Index. We got this way by drinking and eating with you all – so in one way or another you are partially to blame.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 to support additional Starlight workshops caring for the mental well-being of hospitalised teenagers through Starlight’s Livewire Adolescent Program.
Livewire is a program for hospitalised adolescents that provides engaging, age appropriate, creative activities to encourage the teens to connect. These workshops are proven to support young people develop new skills, relieve boredom and isolation, encourage connections between peers and build self-esteem in this vulnerable, at-risk group.
Starlight is experiencing an increased demand for its adolescent programs for young people on mental health wards where the need for distraction and social connection is acute due to the restricted nature of these wards and the medical conditions of these young people.
Many of these young people experience lengthy hospital admissions which interrupt their participation in everyday activities that support adolescent development, making them a particularly at-risk group.
So please help us help them.
