From 1999 to 2011, a very strong, good looking set of close mates ūüėä completed the Rottnest Channel Swin on 10 separate occasions. After the 2011 swim, the team decided that 10 times was enough and we vowed never to do the swim again‚Ķ.. As the years rolled on, one of our team members Chris Winter was diagnosed with Parkinson‚Äôs Disease. One night when we were all together (and with the possibility of a few ales under our skin) we thought it would be a fitting tribute to our good mate Chris to get the team back together for ONE LAST TIME and enter the 2018 Port to Pub swim! The team has been assembled and consists of the original 4 swimmers plus some new additions to the team. Our original support crew have also thrown themselves behind us with boat driving, paddlers, other support crew all there to encourage us on the day. More importantly we want to do this swim for 2 reason; ‚ÄĘ Raise awareness of Parkinson‚Äôs Disease and ‚ÄĘ Raise money for research into Parkinson‚Äôs Disease. In order to maximise the fundraising efforts we have been able to secure sponsorship from Rottnest Express Ferry Services to cover the entry fee of the event. This sponsorship is much appreciated and the team is very grateful. For all people looking to donate, we have setup this page to encouraging all our Family and Friends to support us with donations big or small! Anything you can donate will go to the Shake it up Foundation which supports Parkinson Research and has a collaborative relationship with the Michael J Fox Parkinson Foundation.

Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research

Shake It Up Australia Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 and in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) promotes and funds Parkinson’s disease research in Australia aimed at better treatments and ultimately a cure.

To date, the foundation together with our partners at The Michael J. Fox Foundation have co-funded over $6 Million into Australian Parkinson's research and are the largest non-government funders across multiple research institutes.

The foundation was established by Clyde Campbell, a father of three and business owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44. Clyde set out to find out as much as he could about the disease and determine what he could do in a practical sense to assist. His search led him to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in the United States and the remarkable work they do to fund medical research targeted at finding better treatments on the path to a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The partnership builds upon a strong base of promising Parkinson‚Äôs research in Australia and allows both organisations to maximise the impact of capital raised from the Australian Parkinson‚Äôs community to accelerate better treatments on the path to a cure. Under the partnership, all funds raised by Shake It Up  Australia Foundation and our supporters are directed toward research efforts in Australia.  We also guarantee that 100% of your donation is directed into research, this is made possible by our founding directors covering all overhead and administration costs of the foundation.

As the country’s leader in strategic Parkinson’s research funding we are excited about the talent we have in our Australian institutes and the prospect that their work will take us closer to a cure.
