About Liv runs for Parkinson's

I am raising much needed funds for Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research. This area of research is very important to me, and I hope that I can make a small difference by raising some money while running the City to Surf this year. Parkinson's is characterised by symptoms such as slowness of movement and trouble walking. Many people think Parkinson's is 'just the shakes' but along with the more well known symptoms such as tremor, Parkinson's can also cause symptoms such as mood changes, trouble with sleeping and dementia, to name but a few. Parkinson's affects up to 10 million people worldwide, and more research is badly needed to shed some light on its cause and to improve available treatments. If you can, I would really appreciate your support as I raise money for Parkinson's. If you aren't able to give money you could also support me by sharing this page on social media to help me spread the word. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research find a cure.

Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research

Shake It Up Australia Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 and in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) promotes and funds Parkinson’s disease research in Australia aimed at better treatments and ultimately a cure.

To date, the foundation together with our partners at The Michael J. Fox Foundation have co-funded over $6 Million into Australian Parkinson's research and are the largest non-government funders across multiple research institutes.

The foundation was established by Clyde Campbell, a father of three and business owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44. Clyde set out to find out as much as he could about the disease and determine what he could do in a practical sense to assist. His search led him to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in the United States and the remarkable work they do to fund medical research targeted at finding better treatments on the path to a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The partnership builds upon a strong base of promising Parkinson’s research in Australia and allows both organisations to maximise the impact of capital raised from the Australian Parkinson’s community to accelerate better treatments on the path to a cure. Under the partnership, all funds raised by Shake It Up  Australia Foundation and our supporters are directed toward research efforts in Australia.  We also guarantee that 100% of your donation is directed into research, this is made possible by our founding directors covering all overhead and administration costs of the foundation.

As the country’s leader in strategic Parkinson’s research funding we are excited about the talent we have in our Australian institutes and the prospect that their work will take us closer to a cure.
