About Jenni, Dave & Eileen's Camino

The impetus for us to embark on this fundraising event with Inspired Adventures was threefold, each equal in attraction and it is right there in the name Camino for a cure of Parkinson’s 2018, supporting Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research. The Camino de Santiago has long been on our Bucket List so, it now presents the opportunity to make real our challenge this year. We’ll each walk the final 100 kilometers of the historical Camino de Santiago pilgrimage (Sarria to Santiago) in northern Spain in September. This is of course at our own expense. Parkinson’s which is the second most common neurological condition in Australia after dementia has close history with our family, the latest being Jenni who received her diagnosis in 2014 - A Cure of Parkinson’s would be the ultimate reward for our challenge of walking the Camino. We will be proud ambassadors for our friends in the Tamworth Parkinson’s Support Group and to all those who are affected by Parkinson’s as we Trek for a Cure for Parkinson’s. To support Shake It Up Australia means that every dollar raised is guaranteed 100% to go straight to Australian research to find a cure for this debilitating condition and we couldn’t get better than that. It’s a no-brainer! Let’s make this happen! Please help us reach our combined Target of $12,000 by donating to our page. All donations are tax deductible. Please also share our page link with your family and friends. Thank you sincerely, Jenni Dave and Eileen

Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research

Shake It Up Australia Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 and in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) promotes and funds Parkinson’s disease research in Australia aimed at better treatments and ultimately a cure.

To date, the foundation together with our partners at The Michael J. Fox Foundation have co-funded over $6 Million into Australian Parkinson's research and are the largest non-government funders across multiple research institutes.

The foundation was established by Clyde Campbell, a father of three and business owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44. Clyde set out to find out as much as he could about the disease and determine what he could do in a practical sense to assist. His search led him to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in the United States and the remarkable work they do to fund medical research targeted at finding better treatments on the path to a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The partnership builds upon a strong base of promising Parkinson’s research in Australia and allows both organisations to maximise the impact of capital raised from the Australian Parkinson’s community to accelerate better treatments on the path to a cure. Under the partnership, all funds raised by Shake It Up  Australia Foundation and our supporters are directed toward research efforts in Australia.  We also guarantee that 100% of your donation is directed into research, this is made possible by our founding directors covering all overhead and administration costs of the foundation.

As the country’s leader in strategic Parkinson’s research funding we are excited about the talent we have in our Australian institutes and the prospect that their work will take us closer to a cure.
