Why I am supporting Spinal Cord Injuries Australia

My Story

This cool initiative to fund raise much-needed money for a nationally-run rehab program for people living with neurological injuries and conditions just happens to fall on my birthday this year ... So i thought, if you were toying with the idea of shouting me a birthday coffee/gin this year as a birthday celebration, whether it's in Canberra, Wollongong, Sydney or in spirit, this would be a great place to redirect that beautiful thought and would give some much-needed support to hard-working fabulous people (the therapists AND the clients). And for my part of the challenge, I am not going to have a gin between now and my birthday. Yes, that is only 11 days ... but I do love a weekend gin, and have a damn fine gin collection at home, so it's actually quite the challenge ;) You can also support this great initiate by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- together we can help Spinal Cord Injuries Australia create the world we want to see.

About The Big Day Back

International Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day is the 5 September – a day that promotes disability awareness and inclusion across the globe.

Join us in backing people with spinal cord injuries by organising a fundraising activity at your work, school or in your community to raise money and awareness. If 5 September does not suit you – anytime in September is great!

Every dollar you raise will bring us closer to buying more life changing equipment for SCIA’s national exercise program, NeuroMoves.

At NeuroMoves every little improvement is celebrated as a Big Day. We know small changes can make a huge impact on someone’s life - from regaining the ability to hold a fork to feed yourself to improving strength and endurance to play with your kids.

About my cause: Spinal Cord Injuries Australia

Our mission is to advance the rights, choices and entitlements of people living with spinal cord injury and similar conditions; and to ensure that high quality, relevant services are readily available for people with spinal cord injury and similar conditions.
