I remember sitting in the oncologist's office with Mum and Dad when i heard that 1 in 8 women are affected by breast cancer before they are 85. 1 in freakin' 8. This wasn't a disease that I was just hearing about in the media or something I heard about a friend of a friend of a friend. My family was in it. 1 in 8 meant that statistically, this wasn't the last time someone I cared about would face this. Now, mum's cancer was an aggressive monster that didn't respond well to any treatments thrown at it, She was unlucky. But science and research can change things so that others aren't just 'unlucky' they can have better, targeted treatments to add years to their life. Connie Johnson was able to live 6 years longer than doctor's expected thanks to advances in medicine. She got to live long enough so that her gorgeous boys could hold onto memories of her. If we support research, women can live longer, or diagnosed sooner or treated with something less devastating than today's chemotherapies. We can work towards zero deaths. I lost my mum too young and want to do something to help reduce the number of lives lost to this cruel disease. But there is only so much I can do on my own. You can help too, by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help Love Your Sister create the world we want to see.
