My Story

On Sunday 29th July, WE Rainbow 🌈Warriors are joining forces to kicking cancer in the butt, with rainbows! Here’s how it goes - WE are going to run/walk in the Sydney Harbour 5k in our rainbow socks, to show cancer that it might effect those near and dear to us and take our loved ones but it won’t take away our fabulousness! WE will be joining thousands of other runners in rainbow socks, to create a moving human rainbow across Sydney Harbour! Together we have decided to participate and raise much needed funds for Love Your Sister. Their work is really important, and WE want to do what I can to help. But there is only so much WE can do on our own. You can help too, by donating to OUR Rainbow 🌈 Warriors Page. Any amount you can give will make a difference! 100% of monies received go directly to research, no admin, no skimming, no BS! Chuck us a buck and feel instantly better about yourself! Carn, don’t say no to rainbows, and say yes to curing cancer!” You can also support US by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to US ! Together we can help Love Your Sister create the world we want to see. Big Love 💖 Rainbow 🌈 Warriors

About my cause: Love Your Sister

Love Your Sister is Australia’s most authentic and fastest-growing cancer charity.

Victorian Australian of the Year 2018 and Love Your Sister co-founder Samuel Johnson, has one simple message for anyone interested in solving the cancer conundrum...

“Love Your Sister passes on 100% of all individual donations IN FULL to the country’s best researchers. No skimming, no admin, no bull.”  - Samuel Johnson

It all started with the most absurd dare imaginable. Connie Johnson, young mum of two, was told that she was terminal with breast cancer and to arrange her affairs. Instead, she sent her brother, actor Samuel Johnson (best known as the guy who played ‘Molly’), to ride around the entire country on a unicycle, to personally remind every young mum in the land to check their boobs. Love Your Sister was born.

Samuel kept his promise. After 364 days atop his one-wheeler, over 1000 media calls, 450 community fundraisers and 50 school visits, Samuel finally returned to Federation Square on his unicycle and into Connie’s waiting arms. And the scientists at the Garvan Research Foundation found themselves $1.4M richer.

While Samuel’s insane unicycling adventure is done, Love Your Sister is not. Not while there’s still no cure. Not after Samuel promised the 360,000-strong Love Your Sister Village that he would up the fundraising goal to TEN million dollars. Currently, their total stands just over $7M. There is now a new Breast Cancer Lab at Garvan, headed by the Connie Johnson Fellow, Professor Elgene Lim, and a new national metastatic tissue bank, for all cancers, is rolling out this year.

After his Gold Logie-winning turn as Molly Meldrum for Network Seven, Samuel promptly retired from acting to focus entirely on Love Your Sister’s goal of raising ten million dollars for cancer research. In Samuel’s words, ‘Cancer is the last true riddle of our time (not of our doing) and I wanna be a part of the push to solve it once and for all. I won’t play pretend on telly while science is being muzzled’.

About Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k & 5k

The Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k and 5k sees over 5000 participants, starting at The Rocks, who run or walk around the sparkling Sydney Harbour. A great training event for Sydneysiders preparing for the winter and spring classics alongside those taking part in their first fun run. The 10k course starts at the historic Sydney Rocks, a one lap loop which hugs the harbour foreshore to ensure spectacular views throughout. The course will travel along Hickson Rd, through Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour, and back into The Rocks to the finish line outside the Overseas Passenger Terminal. The 5k also starts at The Rocks and continues around the edge of Sydney Harbour, under the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge before an out and back section along Hickson Road. Participants will return beneath the Harbour Bridge following the foreshore to the finish line with views of the Sydney Opera House.
