Ambiguous loss is considered by psychologists around the world to be the most stressful type of grief, so alleviating that stress, that overwhelming hopelessness – if only for a moment – is invaluable to families with missing loved ones.
MPAN provides families with practical support from key media opportunities and billboard advertising, to drone searches and volunteer support. We are the only charity of our kind in Australia, and in our 4 years, we've launched the world-first Missing Persons Guide, and the 100 A DAY, Help Find Me, and Too Short Stories campaigns.
Our current project, The Unmissables, pairs authors and artists with long term missing loved ones to humanise them, and reignite searches.
As most of you know, Run Melbourne is THE ultimate tradition for MPAN. It's also a great day out, PLUS this year it also happens to coincide with the first day of National Missing Persons Week, so #fate!
We are a teeny tiny charity with passion to boot, and your support through this annual fundraiser is what has quite literally been keeping us afloat these past 4 years.
In 2017, we are hoping to reach a target of $15,000 so that we can launch our next initiative, continue to reframe Missing Persons as the community issue it is, and inspire those directly impacted to get out of bed each day and survive the not knowing.
Donations of any size show that you care, and that means everything. THANK YOU!
