About City2Surf for MPAN

On Sunday 11 August, at the close of National Missing Persons Week 2019, Stacey and Abigail are running in the City2Surf!

They've chosen to fundraise for Missing Persons Advocacy Network (MPAN) not only to spread awareness for this cause and this important organisation, but also because Stacey's relative is a long term missing person.

She has seen how ambiguous loss affects people and wants to raise money to help support families of missing Australians.

Contributions of any size will be very helpful for MPAN, as they are a small unfunded charity doing an enormous amount of work.

About Missing Persons Advocacy Network (MPAN)

MPAN humanises missing people and provides practical support to their families and friends.

Over 100 Australians are reported missing every day, and while most are found quickly, many are not. Research shows that for every one missing person, at least 12 others are directly impacted – financially, emotionally, and psychologically. Experts around the world consider ambiguous loss to be the most stressful type of grief.

MPAN creates awareness for missing loved ones, equips families with practical support and services, and works to establish partnerships that increase visibility for the issue and lessen the financial impact on those left behind.

Missing Persons is a community issue, and MPAN encourages a collaborative effort across the media, corporate sector, all levels of government, emergency services and people power with police, to ensure that families left behind get the support they deserve.
