Why I am supporting Humpty Dumpty Foundation

My Story

I am taking part in Country to Coast Tour 2019 to raise much needed funds for Humpty Dumpty Foundation. Their work is really important, and I want to do what I can to help. But there is only so much I can do on my own. You can help too, by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help Humpty Dumpty Foundation create the world we want to see.

About Country to Coast Tour 2019

In 2019, C3 Cyclists are riding 740km (7815m elevation) from Tamworth to Newcastle, through the beautiful Hunter Region to raise $75,000 for Humpty Dumpty Foundation. Through Humpty, we will be able to donate life saving medical equipment to Tamworth, Cessnock and John Hunter (Newcastle) Hospitals to help save kids' lives! (We hope to be able to donate to more!)

Some equipment needed includes:
EZ-IO DRILL & EDUCATOR KIT: $1,895 EACH 2 needed
Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital, Children's Ward and Special Care Nursery, NSW
This power drill kit is an essential piece of resuscitation equipment used to gain vascular access in critically ill children and babies when intravenous access cannot be established. The drill kit is used to place a needle into the bone within 10 seconds, through which life-saving medication and fluids can then be administered.

Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital, Children's Ward and Special Care Nursery, NSW
Accurate measurement of a pulse rate, oxygen saturation and blood flow is essential in assessing the current status and treatment implications for paediatric patients. The Rad-5 (handheld) allows nurses to record arterial oxygen levels accurately and efficiently and quickly track any changes.

John Hunter Children's Hospital, Ward J2 Adolescents, Day Stay and Paediatric Sleep Unit, NSW
This piece of equipment allows accurate assessment of vital signs like temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels in the paediatric setting. This monitor will recognise deteriorating clinical conditions immediately, which allows for early intervention which greatly reduces further health risks to the child.

AIRVO 2 HUMIDIFIER: $2,950 EACH 4 needed
Bathurst Base Hospital, Emergency Department, NSW (2) and Paediatric Unit, NSW (2)
Humidification is important for babies and children suffering from respiratory problems, such as bronchitis, pneumonia and cystic fibrosis. Humidified air and oxygen helps them breathe restfully and clears the chest for ongoing treatment and recovery.

JAUNDICE METER: $9,080 EACH 1 needed
The Maitland Hospital, Maternity, NSW
Jaundice, or yellowing of the skin and eyes, occurs in approximately 50% of full-term and 80% of pre-term babies in their first week of life. It is often an indication of underlying symptoms and as a result, screening of babies for jaundice efficiently and effectively is vital. Unlike a traditional blood test, the jaundice meter is non-invasive and provides results in minutes rather than hours.

This years tour will start in Tamworth, NSW (Tamworth Hospital) and proceed to Gloucester, then to Cessnock for three days of rolling countryside in the Hunter Region! On the final day we will ride into Newcastle and finish at C3 People (C3 NC, Merryweather NSW).

The Days:
Stage 1 - 184.5km - 2,118m Elevation
Stage 2 - 154.5km - 1,937m Elevation
Stage 3 - 164.5km - 1,476m Elevation
Stage 4 - 174.8km - 1,301m Elevation
Stage 5 - 61.1km - 1,114m Elevation

The 'Country to Coast Tour' sees a change to our tour format with multiple benefits for our riders. This year we are offering 5 day and 3 day options as we are based in Cessnock for the last 3 days! So there is no excuse for not coming this year!

Full 5 Day Tour: 738.20 km - 7,815m | Est. Moving Time 25:50:54 (Tamworth to Newcastle)
3 Day Tour: 399.33km - 3,874m | Est. Moving Time 13:58:58 (Cessnock to Newcastle)

Why not join us this year? Challenge yourself, support a great cause and get amongst a great group of people that will become life long friends! Your support is greatly appreciated.

About C3 Cyclists:
Cycling. Connection. Community. C3 Cyclists are an enthusiastic community of people from C3 Churches around the world who love cycling, want to be outwardly focused on helping others, want to connect with other cyclists, want to improve their health and fitness and want to achieve something significant! C3 Cyclists has raised over $275,000 for charities directly assisting sick kids in need. We believe this is a high impact in the lives of many and is a pivotal influence into the communities we are part...

About my cause: Humpty Dumpty Foundation

The Humpty Dumpty Foundation has been providing support for children's services since 1996. Humpty raises funds to purchase vital/life-saving medical equipment for Neonatal Units (Newborn Care) and Paediatric Wards (toddlers and children to 16 years) in over 408 hospitals and health service centres across Australia.

We would all like to believe that our hospitals have all the necessary equipment they need to look after our children in an emergency, but put simply, they don’t.

The Humpty Dumpty Foundation is a charity that helps the most vulnerable people in our community: our children.

Thank you for choosing to support Humpty and for helping kids in hospital.
