The 1200kmsforkids Charity Bike Ride was conceived back in 2005 by Gary Richardson and Trevelyan Bale. The two friends were looking for a way to give back to the hospitals that had effortlessly helped their sick children.
Over a beer or two, the idea was born to form a group and cycle 1,200 kilometres in 7 days to raise as much money as possible for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and the Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane.
To date, all of the $1,720,000 raised by 1200kmsforkids has gone to the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and the Children's Hospital Foundation, Brisbane and helps fund:
• Lifesaving medical equipment
• Research programs
• Pediatric training
• Volunteer services
• Children entertainment services
