Hummingbird House needs an Aquatic Physiotherapist.
You can help us raise $23,232 to deliver this essential service!
Summer is here! Many of us will spend time splashing in a pool to beat the heat, and have fun with family and friends.
However, at Hummingbird House, time spent in the pool can mean so much more.
Children who stay with Hummingbird House often have painful conditions. They might have muscle cramps, and be uncomfortable after hours spent in wheelchairs and beds. Spending time in our heated pool helps relieve their pain.
When they come to Hummingbird House, children look forward to swimming in our pool. Their first question is often “can we go for a swim?”
Our pool gives families the chance to jump in and splash together, creating precious memories. It’s somewhere that brothers and sisters can play and laugh together, while their parents take photos they can always treasure.
The pool at Hummingbird House has been specially built to meet the needs of children with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Unlike many pools in the community, it is accessible through hoists, which means children of all abilities are included.
Our pool is much loved, but now we want to make it even better. With your help, we can use the pool to its full potential to help children with life-limiting conditions.
We need to hire a specially trained physiotherapist to work with children in our pool.
Aquatic Physiotherapy is the specialised practice of physiotherapy, delivered in warm water. It is a fun and impact-free way to undertake physical therapy. Being able to float helps children’s muscles to relax. This means they can experience pain-free movement, which they cannot achieve in their everyday life.
We need to raise $23,232 to hire an Aquatic Physiotherapist. Please help us meet our goal, so Hummingbird House guests and families can truly splash into summer!
