Foodbank NSW & ACT is in its 26th year of operation and is the largest food relief organisation providing 70% of food relief for charities and schools. Foodbank works with food manufacturers, retailers and farmers sourcing food donations and redirecting it to people in need.
Food insecurity is an increasing problem in Australia, with unmet and growing demand for food relief. 15% of the Australian population (3.6 million) experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months.
In the last financial year Foodbank NSW & ACT provided 20.5 million meals for people in need, which equates to nearly 400,000 meals a week.
Foodbank NSW & ACT has strong, established relationships with its 280 rural and regional charity partners that are built on trust and years of experience helping people in need. We will continue to work closely with them in bringing relief to drought-stricken communities.
