UPDATE!!!! On Saturday 30th November I completed my target of 150kms around a 5.6km circuit. It took me 6 hours 17 minutes. I had 3 people come out for a ride and were a great support. This year I wanted to help make a difference and raising money for FA is one of them! This is something close to myself and family as we have a very good friend who is affected by the disease. She is such an amazing person and so I want to do my bit to help her and all the other people affected. I have decided I am going to do a ride and hope that friends and family will get involved and possibly do some of it with me. I am not an avid cyclist so doing this is a bit out of my comfort zone, but thats ok because we all get hit with challenges in life and need to push through. I have decided on a 150km ride so it will be a great target to reach. This year I set myself a goal to do a bit more for the community and so I have chosen this as that goal. I have mapped out a circuit around FlagstaffHill and will do laps totalling 150km. Ok guys!!! After a few minor setbacks and some revision of the route, its all systems go.. The revised route (5.6km@ 27 laps) is smaller than the initial one (15km@10laps). Saturday 30th November!!!! Looking to kick off at 8:30am. The start, finish and supporters base is the main carpark of the Flagsthill Hill Primary School on Black Road. There will be a snag sizzle, sweets, drinks and raffles for cold coin donation on the day. With it being a bit friendlier to the average cyclists I would love for anyone to come out for a ride. It will be going most of the day so feel free to make a day of it and hang out all day, or pop in and out. I really hope that friends and family will get out on the day to support myself and anyone else who is participating. It is for an amazing cause. Please share this around and donate via the link above!! Anything helps! 😀😀🚴🏾‍♂️🚴‍♀️ I have been training and will start pushing myself harder now to get ready for it. If anyone wants to come for a ride let me know. Thanks so much for the donations so far and support!! I am raising much needed funds for FARA. Their work is really important, and I want to do what I can to help with further research. You can help too, by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help FARA create the world we want to see.

Imagine being a kid or a teenager and being told you have a degenerative muscle disease which will lead to a loss of muscle co-ordination, fatigue, vision impairment, hearing loss, slurred speech and then a serious heart condition - this is Friedreich Ataxia. 1 in every 30,000 affected. 1 in 90 are carriers.

The Friedreich Ataxia Research Association (fara) is a not for profit organisation that supports research into treatments and a cure for Friedreich Ataxia. fara does not receive State or Commonwealth Government support and relies largely on the family and friends of Friedreich Ataxia patients and generous businesses within Australia and New Zealand to fund its research programs.

Money raised will help establish our first clinical gene therapy trials in Australia, which will help find new treatments and a cure for Friedreich Ataxia.
