Aiming to change the perception of cancer from life threatening to curable
On the back of astounding successes in 2015 and 2017 in the treatment of patients on our mesothelioma trial (Lancet Oncology) and new pancreatic cancer Next Gen EDV treatment (Pipeline), the ECRF welcomes its supporters to spread the word and fund raise to directly support pre-clinical research into the next generation of cancer treatments.
More about us:
The Foundation, while small, is committed to challenging existing approaches to treating cancer and to encouraging the development of therapies that are tailored to the individual and not simply standardised across patients. We do not believe that debilitating side effects of chemotherapy should simply be accepted as a necessary evil associated with treatment, and want to ensure that there are research programs, student and professionals who are constantly challenging the treatment norms to come up with novel and tailor-made medicine solutions, even in less common cancers that often receive little research funding.
We are committed to raising funds to continue our work in the following areas:
- Encouraging young Australian scientists through scholarships (Gemma, Jane and Jill pictured above) to complete PhD program or post-graduate studies in translational oncology research
- Supporting patients into early clinical trials with novel therapies
All funds raised are committed directly to the job at hand. The Foundation operates with no overhead expenses and all fundraising work is purely on a volunteer basis.
