Can you help us help more kids read?
As the end of the financial year approaches, we want to raise $25,000 to get books to children who would otherwise miss out.
We provide three programs for pre-primary and primary school aged children in priority locations throughout Australia. We target those children who need our help the most. Our programs are designed to support teachers, librarians, parents and carers.The links between reading and educational outcomes are well documented, yet too often books are not available.
1) Book Bank - supports children in years 3-6. Students choose a new book each term (four per year), every year from a curated list of over 2,000 titles to ensure they can read age-appropriate books that interest them. Students are encouraged to read and share their books with their class throughout the term. They keep their chosen book at the end of each term. It is run over four years to ensure maximum impact.
2) Library Regeneration - restocks libraries that have suffered from a lack of funding or from natural disasters. Every $1 raised is doubled in RRP for books so a $2,000 Library Regeneration donation results in $4,000 of books being supplied.
3) Duck Library - we supply a fully stocked purpose built bookshelf with $1,000 worth of of age-appropriate books. This is designed for pre- school aged children. It is topped up in the second year with a further $300 worth of books. Duck Libraries go to refugee centres, hospitals, and other important centres in the community.
We don't supply books that don't sell or second hand books. We provide books chosen by the children and teachers themselves. We understand that choice is important and children are more likely to read books that interest them. Can you help by making a tax-deductible* donation today?
* Donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
