You can read this. Imagine if you couldn't...
An astonishing 1 in 7 kids who leave school today are unable to read and write well*. Yes - you read that correctly - 1 in 7. We at Dymocks Children’s Charities are determined to change that, and we hope you can help us.
We have over 1,000 kids who are waiting to join one of our unique literacy support programs. Kids like Joe. Joe is 6yrs old and lives in Regional Victoria. He has to travel 100kms to attend school and his library is the only place he can access any reading material. With your help our literacy support programs can help Joe and other kids like him;
* $20 buys two books for our Library Regeneration Program.
* $50 buys a child in our Book Bank Program a book each term for a year.
*$100 buys 10 books for our Library Regeneration Program.
Any donation over $2 is tax-deductible. So far this year we have helped 18,463 kids in 124 schools get 33,449 books, but there is so much more to be done.
Please help us help 1,000 kids this tax time!
“…I have been an educator for over 20 years. I have specialised in reading instruction and over the years observed programs that impact positively on students. I have never seen anything with such tremendous capacity to affect student attitude and motivation towards reading as what I have seen through the implementation of the Book Bank program”
Jesmond Zammit, Principal Gorokan Public School.
Our Book Bank Program provides kids in primary schools in priority locations books of their choice so they can own and share books and cultivate a love of reading.
Our Library Regeneration Program restocks school libraries where there is insufficient school funding or following natural disasters.
