About Great Escape 2017

The Cystic Fibrosis Great Escape is CFA’s premier fundraising event, attracting cars from around Australia to participate in 10 challenging days travelling through unique and iconic locations within Australia!

In the past fifteen years the rally has been running we have visited Dubbo, Noosa, Byron Bay, Back O'Bourke, Shepparton, Port Arthur, Hobart, Mudgee, Rainbow Beach, Nelson Bay, Orange, Merimbula, Port Douglas, Undara Lava Tubes, Great Keppel Island, world heritage listed Fraser Island, the Red Centre and Ayres Rock, the Whitsunday’s, the magnificent Great Ocean Road, Burke & Wills Dig Tree, Batemans Bay and Kangaroo Island, to name a few.

2017 will see our Rallytives take off from Ararat and finish at Mt Gambier.

The rally and its long history attracts 40 plus cars each year with over 150 participants. The Great Escape has forged a unique identity within the rally industry whilst raising funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis (CF).

About Cystic Fibrosis Australia

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) primarily affects the lungs and digestive system because of a malfunction in the exocrine system, responsible for producing saliva, sweat, tears and mucus.

There is currently no cure. People with CF develop an abnormal amount of excessively thick and sticky mucus within the lungs, airways and the digestive system. The mucus causes impairment of the digestive functions of the pancreas and traps bacteria in the lungs resulting in recurrent infections which lead to irreversible damage. Lung failure is the major cause of death for someone with CF.

We advocate on behalf of our members to gain better access to services, obtain information or resources. On a larger scale we have been involved in several national campaigns to increase the rights of all people with cystic fibrosis.
