Why I am supporting Cure Cancer Australia

My Story

Fundraising update 19th November: Thanks to the generous support of everyone I have again raised my fundraising target to make this my BIGGEST fundraiser ever. New target to achieve this is $12,576. Fundraising update 29th September: Thank you to everyone who helped me raise $5,873 and take my fundraising to over $60,000 for Cure Cancer. With two months to go I've raised my fundraising goal to $10,000. Thank you for helping me achieve this x I am hosting "Kate's Summit for a Cure" to raise much needed funds for Cure Cancer Australia. Their work is really important to live in a world free of cancer - no less, and I want to do what I can to help. But there is only so much I can do on my own. You can help too, by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! I began fundraising for Cure Cancer Australia in 2012 and have since taken on numerous global adventures including trekking the Kokoda trail, the Salcantay Trek to Machu Picchu and the Larapinta Trail, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, and running the Sydney Half Marathon and New York Marathon . I was inspired to begin raising money for young, emerging cancer researchers following my own cancer diagnosis at just 26. This challenge will take my new personal fundraising total to over $60,000 - one step closer to my $100,000 goal. You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help Cure Cancer Australia create the world we want to see.

About Kate:

Kate began fundraising for the Cure Cancer Australia Foundation in 2012 and has since taken on numerous global adventures including trekking the Kokoda trail, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and running the New York Marathon. She was inspired to begin raising money for young, emerging cancer researchers following her own cancer diagnosis at just 26. Now cancer free, Kate is proving to herself and the world that anything is possible with enough determination.

About my cause: Cure Cancer Australia

Cure Cancer Australia is dedicated to funding crucial cancer research from Australia’s brightest emerging minds. We believe early-career researchers who offer new ideas and challenging perspectives are the key to advancing the fight against ALL types of cancer.
The funding landscape for early-career researchers is extremely competitive. Cure Cancer Australia provides the vital early-career funding that our emerging research innovators so desperately need. Without investment in their potentially life-saving research, there won't be a future pipeline for Australian cancer research.
To date, Cure Cancer Australia has invested close to $30 million to support more than 300 scientists and provide close to 500 research grants. Many of our alumni are now amongst the leaders in cancer research both in Australia and around the world.
We won't cure cancer without research and we cannot cure cancer without you. Help us to make this the last generation to die from cancer.
