On June 15th, a group of Deakin University pre-service teachers including myself will head to Vanuatu for a 3 week teaching program. I will be taking over lots of classroom resources and sports equipment to help engage my students, but I also need your help to raise much needed funds for CARE Australia.
Poverty is a huge barrier to education, and education is one of the best ways of helping communities overcome poverty. Often schools are too far away, teaching materials are inadequate, school fees too high, and the pressure too strong on these young people to join the workforce or stay at home doing household chores. And the situation is worst for girls.
School gives girls a chance at life, especially in areas of the world where child marriage, early motherhood and poverty are the only other options. When a girl is educated she is more likely to earn a greater income, is less likely to die from a preventable disease, and is more equipped to protect her health and that of her family.
You can help by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! $75 can send a child to school for a year, so my goal of $300 could see 4 children sent to school.
Together we can help CARE Australia create the world we want to see.
