When I was little, species like elephant, cheetah and panda were endangered. Today, over 16,000 species are at risk of extinction. That includes 1/4 of the Earth’s mammals, 1 in 8 bird species, and HALF of the insects. We’re not talking big charismatic mammals any more, we’re talking about common birds and bugs in your own backyard. And that happened in just 30 years… I am of the generation that has seen the natural world collapse. I want our kids to see it bounce back. And it can. Nature is amazing, incredibly responsive, and we’re yet to discover many ways in which plants and animals can adapt. Anywhere we do the right thing to protect it, nature bounces back. By supporting the WWF Australia in its actions to protect threatened species, by enabling Australia to embrace the green energy era, we will build a better world. I am running in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2018, for my nieces and nephews, for the polar bear on its shrinking sea ice, for the drought-affected farmers, for the bees, for you and I, because we all share the same planet. You can help too, by donating to my page & emailing the page link to others. Any amount you can give makes a difference! Thank you. Mylene M.
