My two year old son Charlie was recently diagnosed with a rare genetic primary immunodeficiency disease CGD (http://www.cgdsociety.org/whatiscgd#thebasics) which could lead to potential life-threatening infections and extended hospital stays. Long term we have a long road ahead with a Bone Marrow Transplant as a cure. Our two week stint at Sydney Children's Hospital provided us with the care and support we needed to get through the troubling time leading to Charlie's diagnosis. To say the staff and volunteers at the hospital are amazing would be an understatement. Charlie's care was always top priority, with doctors and nurses going above and beyond to provide the best possible outcome in a challenging situation. As we continue through Charlie's long term care plan I have seen first hand how critically important the work of the Sydney Children's Hospital is for other Children and families in a similar situation. I continue to find solace in running, as an outlet to clear my mind and focus on what is immediately important. To use this outlet As small way to give something back, I am challenging myself to complete my second marathon, and raise much needed funds for Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation. I am hoping to do my small part in helping the foundation achieve their goals of providing; - Research for tomorrow - Clinical care for today - Fundraising to make a difference - People who make it happen Finding the time to train is going be tough and getting across the line will be a success in itself. Please help by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference and will spur me on to continue to help raise awareness for diseases like CGD and providing support to families that need it. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation create the world we want to see.
