My Story

Hi Everyone, welcome to my page !! :) Thankyou for checking it out. Here you can find out information about Parkinson's Disease, the role we all can play in finding a cure and a no obligation option to make a donation. Every day, 32 people in Australia are diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and 10% of these people are under the age of 40. This disease has no known cure, however through investment in research, Shake It Up and their partner Michael J. Fox Foundation for Medical Research offer hope of a cure. This September I am taking part in the Blackmores Sydney Half Marathon 2018 to raise much needed funds for 'Shake It Up Australia'. Helping to find a cure is something very dear to my heart and I’d appreciate your support to help me reach my fundraising goal for this great cause. Parkinson's disease has been an ongoing battle for both extended and immediate members of my family. I have seen how both the sufferers and the loved ones around them have battled to help fight and manage this cruel disease. 'Shake it up Australia for Parkinson's Research' is an amazing organisation and their work is really important. I want to do what I can to help. But there is only so much I can do on my own. Running the half marathon I'm aiming to raise awareness and vital funding so that through research and medical trials we can find a cure for Parkinson's. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. <3

About my cause: Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research

Shake It Up Australia Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 and in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) promotes and funds Parkinson’s disease research in Australia aimed at better treatments and ultimately a cure.

To date, the foundation together with our partners at The Michael J. Fox Foundation have co-funded over $10.8 Million into Australian Parkinson's research and are the largest non-government funders across multiple research institutes.

The foundation was established by Clyde Campbell, a father of three and business owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44. Clyde set out to find out as much as he could about the disease and determine what he could do in a practical sense to assist. His search led him to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in the United States and the remarkable work they do to fund medical research targeted at finding better treatments on the path to a cure for Parkinson’s disease. We also guarantee that 100% of your donation is directed into research, this is made possible by our founding directors covering all overhead and administration costs of the foundation.

As the country’s leader in strategic Parkinson’s research funding we are excited about the talent we have in our Australian institutes and the prospect that their work will take us closer to a cure.
