I am taking part in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2018 to raise much needed funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).
Those of you who know me will know that I am not a runner, but for this cause I will make an exception. About 2 years ago my mum was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and has been fighting the difficult battle with this awful disease since.
As there is currently no early detection test and a lack of symptoms in the early stages of Ovarian cancer, women are usually diagnosed in the late stages of the disease – when the cancer has spread to other organs in the body.
By supporting me, in the Blackmore's Running Festival 10km bridge run, you will be supporting the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Ultimately the Foundation’s goal is to ensure that an early detection test becomes as readily available and habitual as a pap smear or breast mammogram in every woman’s regular medical. This will mean women will have a better chance of surviving this disease. I hope this will mean that women and their families will not have to go through what my family has.
You can help by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference!
You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media.
Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) create the world we want to see.
