My Story

I am taking part in the 10km Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2018 to raise much needed funds for Kidney Health Australia. I am running in love and honour of Inge and Pat's son Liam who spent 5 beautiful hours shining his light on this earth before leaving a lifetime of love in so many hearts. Having lost several much loved children during pregnancy I know the heartache, but also the light, that comes when we let their memories shine. As one great quote says "grief is only love with no where to go". So let's take our grief and turn it into SUNSHINE as we remember all our children gone too soon. The work that Kidney Health Australia does is really important, and helps to continue research into rare genetic kidney diseases like the one Liam had. I want to do what I can to help. But there is only so much I can do on my own. You can help too, by donating to my page. ANY amount you can give makes a difference! You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Love and hugs - and sunshine. Pia xx

About my team: The Kidney Beans

The Kidney Beans are raising funds for Kidney Health Australia by joining in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2018. We are running in memory of our baby Liam Diamond Crivelli who passed away from a rare, inherited kidney disease in November 2017. Funds raised will go towards research into the genetic causes of kidney disease, to hopefully prevent future families from losing their much loved babies. You can help, too! Please donate and share this page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! With love and gratitude xx

About my cause: Kidney Health Australia

Each year more Australians die with kidney related disease than breast cancer, prostate cancer and even road deaths. Sadly, 1 in 3 Australians is at increased risk of kidney disease and an estimated 1.7 million Australians over the age of 25 already have at least one clinical sign of existing kidney disease.

Kidney Health Australia, formerly known as the Australian Kidney Foundation, is a national health care charity with a vision to save and improve the lives of Australians affected by kidney disease.

Kidney Health Australia aims to;

• Educate the general public about the risk factors of kidney disease and train health professionals to help spread this message.

• Advocate on behalf of all kidney patients and the tireless carers who support those living with kidney disease.

• Research for a cure. Kidney Health Australia is the largest non-government funder of kidney disease research in Australia.

• Support Australians affected by kidney disease through a range of resources and programs.

Kidney Health Australia is independent of Governments and indebted to the community for their support.
