My Story

On the 16th of September I will be running a half-marathon during the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, alongside Tom Veitch and significantly in front of Simon Litchfield. We will be running to support an amazing charity in the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, a cause that strikes particularly close to home with our good friend Nathan Lucas having lost his father to brain cancer in 2011. I have often found myself in awe of the strength and optimism with which Nate and his family have approached the loss of their loving dad and husband, turning a tragedy into an opportunity to do such good in the community by promoting brain cancer research through the Tony Lucas Research Grant. That is why I feel immensely proud and honoured to be able to represent such an awesome organisation. Around 1700 people are diagnosed with brain cancer in Australia annually and approximately 1200 die from the disease every year. Brain cancer kills more children in Australia than any other disease and more people under 40 than any other cancer. I hope to raise upwards of $1500 for this great cause, so please get around it, donations small or large will be welcome and appreciated! So please get supporting!

About my cause: Cure Brain Cancer Foundation

Cure Brain Cancer is the peak organisation for brain cancer research, advocacy and awareness in Australia, with a time-critical mission to increase five-year survival from the current 20% to 50% by 2023.

With a strong patient focus we forge global collaborations, fund innovative research and are bringing world-class clinical trials to Australia to give children and adults with brain cancer access to new treatments faster.
