My Story

For those of you who haven't met him yet, Jasper is a hip baby! Not only is he an adorable trendy little thing, but he was diagnosed with bilateral Developmental Dysplasia of the Hips (DDH) at birth. Jasper and I are therefore taking part in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2017 to raise much needed funds for the Orthopaedic Department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. By the time of the Running Festival, Jasper will have had two surgeries for his DDH at Westmead and will hopefully be well on the road to recovery. The team at Westmead are wonderful and their work is really important, not just in the treatment of DDH but in all that they do in looking after Sydney's poorly children. Jasper and I want to do what we can to help, but there is only so much we can do on our own. You can help too, by donating to my page and sponsoring me to push Jasper (in his 2kg spica cast!) around the family fun run. Any amount you can give makes a difference! You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help The Children’s Hospital at Westmead make Sydney's poorly children better and support their families.

About my cause: The Children’s Hospital at Westmead

The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is the largest paediatric centre in NSW specialising in treating seriously ill children.
As part of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, the hospital provides specialist care for children from around Australia and across the Pacific Rim as well as community education, advocacy for improved child health and ground-breaking research into childhood illnesses, all in a positive, caring and healing environment.

Founded in 1880, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is a public hospital, with 4,467 staff across 150 departments looking after more than 80,000 sick children and their families each year. This includes around 32,000 inpatient admissions, 57,000 emergency department presentations and more than 886,000 outpatient visits.

The hospital is home to the NSW Paediatric Burns Unit, the Paediatric Liver Transplant Unit, the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, the NSW Newborn Screening Service and National Poisons Information Centre, as well as the first Paediatric Tumour Bank in the southern hemisphere.

Research is one of the key ways in which the hospital provides the highest standard of care to sick children and their families. The Kids Research Institute leads research into childhood diseases, resulting in significant advances in the treatment of cancer, obesity, kidney, heart and respiratory illnesses, diabetes and muscular dystrophy.

Funded by the NSW Government, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead provides significant extra services thanks to the generosity of individual and corporate donors.
