My Story

G'day All, Dad has been diagnosed with parkinson's, currently a disease with no cure and goes without saying that needs to change. Therefore my family and I are taking part with Dad in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2017 (3.5km family walk) this Sunday 17th September. Family and friends are most welcome to join us on the day in our team "'Bigmac's Shakes" or for those that can't make it please feel free to sponsor us to raise much needed funds for Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research. Together we can help Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research and create a world with a cure. Cheers Marc

About my team: BIGMAC'S SHAKE

Please feel free to join our team for the day and complete the walk with us, or donate and share this page. Thank you for your love and support!

About my cause: Shake It Up Australia for Parkinson’s Research

Shake It Up Australia Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 and in partnership with The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF) promotes and funds Parkinson’s disease research in Australia aimed at better treatments and ultimately a cure.

To date the foundation has funded $3 Million into Parkinson's research and together with our partners at The Michael J. Fox foundation are the largest non-government funders of Parkinson's research in Australia across multiple research institutes.

The foundation was established by Clyde Campbell, a father of three and business owner who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2009 at the age of 44. Clyde set out to find out as much as he could about the disease and determine what he could do in a practical sense to assist. His search led him to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in the United States and the remarkable work they do to fund medical research targeted at finding better treatments on the path to a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
The partnership builds upon a strong base of promising Parkinson’s research in Australia and allows both organisations to maximise the impact of capital raised from the Australian Parkinson’s community to accelerate better treatments on the path to a cure. Under the partnership all funds raised by Shake It Up  Australia Foundation and our supporters are directed toward research efforts in Australia.  We also guarantee that 100% of your donation is directed into research, this is made possible by our founding directors covering all overhead and administration costs of the foundation.

As the country’s leader in strategic Parkinson’s research funding we are excited about the talent we have in our Australian institutes and the prospect that their work will take us closer to a cure.
