My Story

I am taking part in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2017 on Sep 17 to raise much needed funds for the RSPCA. I'll be getting up around 3:30am to head out. A bit inconvenient however I actually want to do this. The RSPCA is there 24 / 7 / 365 for those who don't want to be where they find themselves. The RSPCA's work is incredibly important for all those little ones whose lives selflessly enrich ours and yet who are so totally dependent on us to survive in this very human orientated world. For a few, life doesn't always take them to happy places for a variety of reasons completely beyond their control. When that happens, with a bit of luck and our support, the RSPCA steps in to provide shelter and a humane stepping stone in their life's journey. Hopefully right into another special family to make fresh happy memories. Most of my personal charitable donations have been to important, very worthy causes which focus on helping us - humans. Heaven knows there is no shortage of choices. In this instance I felt it was the right - and respectful - thing to do to direct a moment's care toward those loving little family members who are usually forgotten at these times. They who can't speak for or take care of themselves when life goes wrong. If you've ever felt the devotion of a special wee one and you'd like to return the favour in an equally special way, please consider making a small - or elephant-sized if you're inclined - donation by clicking on the link on this webpage. Small, really small or humungously gigantic - every bit is precious saving grace for those desperately lost out there. You won't know the life you save. But you will know your heart has grown a little larger because you have given the tiniest bit back for all the love and happiness they have given you and your family. It's a good thing. It's not so hard to do. Go on. Just do it. Click the SPONSOR link. Leave the 30,000 or so strides on the day to me (like many of our furry, feathered & scaled little friends, I was born with short legs too). Anything you can give makes a life of difference! You can also help by encouraging others to get involved. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. It means everything to them. Together we can help RSPCA create the world we want to see. Read on to appreciate some of the things you'll be making possible through the RSPCA.

About my cause: RSPCA NSW

Every year with your support, RSPCA NSW cares for and protects NSW's neglected, abused, injured and stray animals. Last year, a staggering 38,009 animals turned to the charity for assistance protection and care.

We couldn't be there for animals without the generous support of people like you. Less than 1% of our operating costs are covered by the NSW Government. Each year, we must raise over $47M to keep 32 Inspectors on the road saving lives, maintain 10 shelters providing safety and care and manage four vet hospitals mending broken bones and hearts. Your commitment to the cause is vital to sustaining our services 365 days a year.

Because of the generosity of people like you, we're able to fund an education team that visits schools, universities and community groups to teach the importance of treating all living things with kindness. Your donations also fund a suite of programs that help the most disadvantaged people in the community. These programs offer safe beds to pets of domestic violence victims, support for pets of elderly and desexing programs in rural and indigenous areas.

Thank you for making the RSPCA NSW your charity of choice.
