My Story

I'm taking part in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2017 to honour a promise I made to my dear friend Kristen Keegan. In early August 2016, shortly after she was diagnosed with brain cancer, I promised Kristen that I would run the Sydney Marathon 2017 for her and together we would raise much needed funds for the Mark Hughes Foundation. The Mark Hughes Foundation raises funds to for research, promotes awareness, and supports brain cancer patients through a dedicated Brain Cancer Care Coordinator. Running a marathon is a big challenge, but it is nothing compared to fighting brain cancer. When I made my promise to Kristen, I told her that I needed her there to make her trademark cheeky comments to encourage me. I am devastated that she will not be there, however I remain more determined than ever to do her proud. I would really appreciate any donation that you are able to make.
