My Story

Depression is an illness that can slowly creep in, or quickly sweep in and take you or people you care about by surprise. Regardless of how, it's often "who?" that is the question that can help save people who are struggling. I urge you to open your eyes and be mindful of your loved ones. Sometimes it's difficult to see - even when you are looking. My "who" question is - Who can help me raise some funds for our loved ones during those times when they feel unseen? Organisations like Black Dog Institute might be there when you don't see what is going on in your loved ones' minds. I am taking part in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2017 to raise much needed funds for Black Dog Institute. You or someone you know may have or is currently facing the challenges of depression or a mental health illness. I would like to help. You can help too, by donating to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help Black Dog Institute create the world we want to see.

About my team: TeamTLC

TeamTLC is raising much needed funds for Black Dog Institute by participating in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2017. For the last 20 years, we have been working with families living with autism, we see the impact that anxiety and depression can have and we know the work of Black Dog Institute is really important in making a difference in mental health and the way it is treated and perceived - we want to do what we can to support them! You can help, too! Please donate and share this page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! Thank you for your generosity and support!

About my cause: Black Dog Institute

Our vision

A mentally healthier world.

Our mission

Enabling mentally healthier lives through innovations in science, medicine, education, public policy and knowledge translation.

What we do

The Black Dog Institute was founded in 2002 and is internationally recognised as a pioneer in the identification, prevention and treatment of mental illness, and the promotion of wellbeing.

We aim to improve the lives of people affected by mental illness through the rapid translation of high quality research into improved clinical treatments, increased accessibility to mental health services and delivery of long-term public health solutions.

Our unique approach incorporates clinical services with our cutting-edge research, our health professional training and community education programs. We combine expertise in clinical management with innovative research to develop new, and more effective strategies for people living with mental illness. We also place emphasis on teaching people to recognise the symptoms of poor mental health in themselves and others, as well as providing them with the right psychological tools to hold the black dog at bay.

We work directly in all parts of the community as well as guiding the development of new and improved policy. We place focus on those with specific mental health needs like young people, Indigenous communities, men, and high-risk workforces.

Our primary areas of mental health research and treatment include: depression, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, workplace mental health, adolescents and young people, suicide prevention, e-mental health, and positive psychology and wellbeing.
