My Story

I'm running my first marathon in September and am raising funds for beyondblue in remembrance of my sister, Louise, who passed away in March this year. We need more research, help and support for mental health in our society. I am sure that we all know of someone who is, or has been, affected. Even if you don't sponsor me (and you really should!)...please take the time out to ask those around you if they are OK. We all have our battles, we all have our cross to bear. You never really know what someone else is going through at any given time. Check in on your loved ones - remembering that there is support and help out there. beyondblue are one of those organisations doing a fantastic job in this space. This will be my first full marathon - a whopping 42.2km (that's 26.2 miles). I'm exhausted at the thought; but also excited at the opportunity to raise money for a very worthwhile and important cause. About beyondblue... beyondblue's work is really important. They are an Australian, independent non-profit organisation working to address issues associated with depression, anxiety disorders and related mental health disorders. Any amount you can give will make a difference! Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. Together we can help beyondblue create a world we want to see.

About my cause: beyondblue

3 million Australians are living with depression or anxiety

beyondblue provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.

Most Australians have some experience with anxiety and depression or related disorders, whether it is personal or via family, friends or work colleagues. beyondblue’s work is aimed at achieving an Australian community that understands depression and anxiety, empowering all Australians, at any life-stage, to seek help. beyondblue raises awareness, reduces stigma and ensures people have access to the information they need to support recovery, management and resilience.

beyondblue is a national, independent, not-for-profit organisation and a bipartisan initiative of the Australian, state and territory governments.

beyondblue works in partnership with health services, schools, workplaces, universities, media and community organisations, as well as people living with depression/anxiety and their carers, to bring together expertise and provide tools and resources.
