My Story

Ok, so posting something that makes me feel a bit uneasy. My reasons are many and not ready to discuss publicly. Instead I will explain what I am doing and why: So I am going to take on the challenge of two marathons (Sydney and Melbourne) and then whats described as the worlds toughest half marathon, the Point to Pinnacle in Hobart, its 1,300 metres of elevation, that starts after the first kilometre and keeps rising until, well the finish. Sydney is in September, Melbourne in October and Hobart in November. There will be some that doubt I can do this or if I should even attempt, but I am, because I myself doubt it, and thats why I going to do it. Others face far more challenging experiences daily in forms of medical, mental or physical. So I can do this and I will continue training for it. Running has been a vice for me in the past two years, a time and place where my mind truly switches off and I simply think about the kms ahead. A rather tough period lead me to running and it really has helped me turn life around. But it does seem like a selfish activity, my personal goals are simply that, personal goals, it doesnt help others, inspire them or contribute to their lives. So thats why I have decided to search for a worthy cause or individual. Well I have found one. Below is a link to someone truly inspiring and simply beyond amazing. Dane is from Pambula on the south coast of NSW and has been running up to 50kms a day for the past 14 years. He is currently embarking on an epic journey of running from Perth To Pambula. Dane is raising funds for both autism and mental heath awareness of which he is personally affected by. His journey is amazing in itself and his he does not let his challenges stop him. So please support me by supporting Dane at the below link and donating to his cause if this inspires you and you are financially able. Equally I have a funding page and am raising funds for Autism Spectrum (Aspect) which is one of Dane's charities he is raising for, whom do amazing work with those affected by autism. Thank you for taking the time to read, this means alot to me, it really does. And every dollar counts, so ignore pre-set amounts as we all have different financial situations and needs and I understand that its reading the story, have understanding and empathy and giving whatever you can that matters, not how much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

About my cause: Autism Spectrum Australia

Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is Australia’s largest service provider for people on the autism spectrum. Our specialised, evidence informed schools program is the largest in the world, with additional services that include information and advice, diagnostic assessments, behaviour support, parent and family support, and adult programs. We share evidence-informed Aspect practice and applied research nationwide.

Autism lasts a lifetime and affects about one in 100 Australians, or 230,000 people. The word 'spectrum' reflects the different challenges that people on the autism spectrum face and the degree to which they may be affected.

Our services provide people on the autism spectrum with the opportunity to realise their unique potential, as well as providing much needed support to their families, carers, friends and colleagues. Our vision is to provide the best possible opportunities for people on the spectrum.
