My Story

In early 2014 my grandmother was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (Bone Marrow Cancer). Since then she has been fighting strong and is still undergoing chemotherapy. Her battle has naturally come with it's ups and downs, however irrespective of the challenge, she has fought hard. Having experienced how cancer affects the lives of our loved ones, family and friends. I want to raise funds for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) as they have been actively funding research projects to help find a cure/treatment/cause for cancer. Specifically with their contributions (totalling $5.5m) to the researchers at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute (WEHI), Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, Monash University and the Alfred Hospital who investigated the ‘survival proteins’ that keep myeloma cells alive, allowing the cancer to persist. I am taking part in the Blackmores Sydney Marathon to raise money for the ACRF to help them further their support for vital cancer research. Together we can help Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) create the world we want to see. Please donate to my page. Any amount you can give makes a difference! You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media. Thank you for your generosity and support!

About my cause: Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF)

Australian Cancer Research Foundation is a cancer charity that focuses exclusively on giving Australia’s best scientists the technology they need to end cancer.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we are funding better ways of detecting, preventing and treating all types of cancer.

ACRF support helps to improve researcher’s understanding of cancer and leads to life-saving breakthroughs. In the past, we have seed-funded important discoveries such as the development of the HPV cancer vaccine.

What makes ACRF unique?
The government and other cancer charities are stretched thin with priorities that demand both their attention and their dollars, which leaves behind a significant gap in funding. ACRF is filling the gap that no other organisation fills.

Each year, ACRF awards competitive grants between $1-10M for major core equipment and infrastructure which is difficult to obtain from other funding sources.

ACRF is passionate about innovation and impact. To ensure we support only the most promising projects, our grants are awarded based on the advice of a panel of leading scientists. Since 1984, ACRF has proudly funded 65 ground-breaking cancer research projects across Australia, totalling $129.2M.

When you support ACRF, you have the power to give the next patient who is diagnosed with cancer a better chance of survival. We are incredibly grateful to our supporters for making cancer research progress possible.
