I am taking part in Blackmores Sydney Running Festival 2017 to raise much needed funds for Alzheimer's Australia NSW.
Late last year, my grandma passed away due to old age and a number of contributing illnesses. Towards the recent years, I've learnt that she suffered partly from dementia as well. Although I am one of her many grandchildren, it was disheartening to know that she was having difficulties to recognise her children or grandchildren. Even between my younger brother and I, I remember him describing the difficulties for grandma to differentiate between us and our names. Although this resulted in some difficulties in everyday activities, I believe my family has nevertheless embraced every moment we had to spend with grandma.
Alzheimer's Disease is currently on the rise, affecting up to 70% of all people with dementia. Sadly, there is currently no cure for Alzheimer's.
I believe the work done by Alzheimer's Australia NSW is really important, and I want to do what I can to help. But there is only so much I can do on my own.
Any amount you can give makes a difference!
You can also support me by encouraging others to get involved, too. Please email the link to my page to your friends and family, or share it on social media.
Thank you for your generosity and support -- it means a lot to me. This is my second half-marathon and with your support, I hope to not only raise sufficient funds but to achieve a new personal best as a goal.
Many thanks & love,
