Over the past year I've donned by best active wear and have been in training to complete a trilogy of running events to raise funds and awareness for the charity, Alzheimer's Australia.
As many of you know, I've not always been a natural runner, and not so long ago, I hadn't completed more than a 5 Km run. This year I've completed the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon in May, the City2Surf in August and I'm now in training for the big one, the Blackmores Sydney Marathon on 17th September... so a grand total of 77 competitive kilometres!
I'm asking for your support to use this opportunity to raise funds for Alzheimer's Australia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, and in Australia dementia is now the second biggest killer, and in the UK it's the number one killer. More and more people are being diagnosed with dementia, many people are only in their 50's, and there is no cure. It is not a normal part of ageing, and it can happen to anybody.
Charities like Alzheimer's Australia and their equivalents in the UK do vital work to raise funds so they can offer support for people and their families living with dementia.
I'd love it if you would help make the pain and potential lost toe nails worthwhile and donate a little something to help me reach my fundraising target!
(For the Brits that want to donate, you will be charged a couple of pounds International Fee - Let us if you want to send straight to us and we'll do it on your behalf)
